If the essence of the photographic medium is light, it is ultimately defined by the shadow. This series engages in a visual dialogue, investigating the quality of light through the structural vernacular of the urban form. The work draws its primary aesthetic tension from the dramatic contrasts of chiaroscuro artworks and the atmospheric brooding of classic film noir cinematography.
